Indentification

We are advocates of permanent identification for dogs and cats. I am sure a lot of strays have owners that are never traced due to the fact that they have no identification.

We have all of our cats and dogs identi-chipped. This is a tiny microchip with an identification code unique to you and your pet. It is injected under the skin by your vet. It is normally around £20. When your pet is picked up as a stray, a scanner can be used to read your unique code. The national database is then contacted and the details of the identi-chip are given. You are then contacted and your pet is returned safely to you.

The other way to identify your dog or cat is with a tattoo. This is particularly useful against theft. It is a unique number tattooed into the right ear. The process takes about 5 minutes. The actually tattoo takes about 2 seconds. It costs £20. We have all our litters of puppies tattooed as they remained registered to us as well as their new owners giving a second point of contact.
