Pet Insurance

We re-home all animals under a year with six weeks FREE insurance. We then ask all of our new adoptees to carry on with either the insurance given or another company.

I think all animals should be insured. Premiums are not too expensive and there are policies to suit every animal and owners budget.

As a Veterinary Nurse, I am well aware of the cost of veterinary treatment now for our pets. Veterinary clinics have huge overheads as they are private businesses and so have no choice except to charge high fees.

We also now have a number of Veterinary Surgeons who specialise in areas such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics, dermatology and pretty much every field. We have lots of new advances and technology available for successful treatments of most ailments, these, however, come at a high cost.

It is awful if you cannot have the best for your pet just because of money.

My animals are all insured. I have recently claimed £3,500 for my dog Billy. He, at 8 years old, developed a nasty, aggressive form of cancer in his lymph nodes. He had the lump removed and, on receiving the histopathology results, I decided I would like to see an Oncologist (specialist in cancers). I made an appointment and was seen within the week.

He was started on a chemotherapy regime for a year. He had regular ultrasounds, blood tests, and another lot of surgery. I had made my mind up to have all of this treatment as he was a Jack Russell in his prime. He has now been in remission for 3 years and is fit, healthy and happy again. If I had not had this treatment, I would probably have lost him within months.

I would have found the money for his treatment somehow but having the insurance meant that I did not have to concern myself with this and just concentrate on getting my boy better.

Here he is now. Would you have known he had been through that?
